From the Introduction
"Some of the works in this collection have been chosen from the long-running Road Map Series put out by the intrepid Tita Lacambra Ayala, while the others were submissions by members and friends of the Davao Writers Guild that was organized in 1999. Altogether, the works here deal mostly with living in contemporary times and do not at all flinch before such topics as gender or poverty or the Davao Seath Squad. The writers, some of whom also paint, write in more than one genre, while some painters are also writers--proof of the multitalented nature of the artists here. A number of the writers are also adept at other languages, writing in English, Filipino, and Bisaya. We have included here works in Bisaya because we believe in furthering the cause of regional writing. We look forward to the day when Davao Harvest will come out with more works in Bisaya than in English or Filipino. As with the editors of the first Davao Harvest, we express the hope that this book 'will stand as testimony to southern sensibility [with] its own brand of passion, humor, and sense of history, and its awareness of its problems that can only be resolved by time and lifelong changes, an existential ambience, the creative art and act.'"
