"This is the 3rd volume of the 5 volume work entitled Philippine Theatre: History and Anthology. The others in the series are: Volume I: Rituals, Dances and Playlets; Volume II: Komedya; Volume IV: Sarwela and Drama and Volume V: Modern Plays. Each volume contains a general essay on the dramatic forms featured and the documentation of at least one specific performance to illustrate the genre. The documentation includes photos and notations of the songs, chants, marches and other musical forms used by the production, as well as the annotated performance texts in the original language and in English translation. Research for this pioneering work was done from 1986 to 1998 under a grant from the Toyota Foundation."
