Foreword: In the paucity of works on Philippine-German relations, the introduction of the book on the subject by mr. Benjamin B. Domingo is a welcome one indeed. Mr. Domingo, the First Secretary and Consul General of the Philippine Embassy in Bonn, Germany is eminently qualified to deal on the study he had embarked upon. He is a graduate of the College of Law of the University of the Philippines, a member of the Philippine Bar and an alumnus of the International Marketing Institute at Harvard University. Recently he was the recipient for a study and travel grant by which he visited key cities in Germany including Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Munich and others under the sponsorship of the Deutsche Stiftung fur Internationale Entwicklung or German Foundation for International Developmet. For the Philippines, a study of the rise of the Federal Republic of Germany from the ravages of war to the pinnacle of economic power in Europe is truly a fascinating one. But for this to happen in the span of only one generation is definitely a wirtschaftswunder or economic miracle. It is hoped that studies on Philippine-German relations will continue to spark the interest of our people. In this endeavor, I believe the book of Mr. Domingo is assured of a significant place. - Gregorio G. Abad, Ambassador of the Philippines To the Philippine Republic of Germany, Bonn, 4 December 1978
