Excerpt from the Preface: This volume came out for manifold reasons. Primarily, I want to protect my lifetime interest from harm. Some of my works have fallen into the wrong hands. For examples: "The Monkey Dance of Surigao," which first appeared in the Weekly Graphic, January 23, 1963, was republished under another person's name in a July issue of Focus Magazine in 1977... ...Another good reason for the creation of this humble collection is the desire to contribute information about the two Surigao provinces especially after Surigao City was the venue of the 7th National Local History Conference in December 1985... ...In other words, sufficient time, efforts, sacrifice and dedication are some of the elements in this thin volume. I hope this collection will encourage others to study the Philippines through the years and write it beginning with their own towns. -Eulogio V.
