"The Calendar of Documents in the Archives of the Cuerpo de Vigilancia de Manila, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (Batis ng Kasaysayan 2011)" is a research guide to the manuscript collection. Originally known as the "Katipunan and Rizal Documents," the collection consists of nineteenth century official Spanish documents, dated 1896-1898, and includes manuscripts, printed materials [impresos], transcripts [copias], confidential written reports [informes] by intelligence agents of the Cuerpo de Vigilancia, newspaper clippings [recortes] from Spanish and Philippine dailies, illustrations, and photographs [fotografias]. The Archives of the Cuerpo de Vigilancia de Manila consist of 1,860 documents--numbering 1,565 letters and original manuscripts and copies, 265 pieces of printed materials, an album of original photographs and 2 albums of printed materials--a total of 5,506 pages. Unquestionably the information provided in these documents will prove useful in reconstructing events of this significant period in Philippine history, especially "history from the people" or "the everyday life" of those who were witness to or participants in the Revolution. -Bernardita Reyes-Churchill, Executive Editor
