About the Author
Antonio Enriquez was born in Zamboanga and, like the hero of his novels, grew up in the old city. His parents wanted him to become a doctor, so he went and enrolled in a Manila university, and without obtaining any degree, he returned to Zamboanga. For several years he did odd jobs in his hometown and elsewhere, including a stint with a surveying company in Cotabato. His experiences in the hinterlands were to provide him later with setting and story for his novels and short stories.
