It is the Spirit that initiates, sustains, and brings to completion our faith in God through Jesus Christ (cf. Dei Verbum, art. 5). Since “Spirit,” is only one metaphor among many that could be used to depict God’s effective action in our world, there are a number of reasons why we will employ the Filipino metaphor of paramdam and why we shall refer to the Holy Spirit as Dakilang Paramdamand in connection with spirituality in the Filipino context as “Pangangatawan.”

A Philippine import.
