Barot's second book contains a religious hush, and he is concerned with the way seeing creates desire, and desire creates the world and somehow destroys it too. He writes with justice, sobriety, and more often than not, pure ecstasy.

About the Author
Rick Barot was born in the Philippines and grew up in the San Francisco Bay. His first book, The Darker Fall, was the winner of the Kathryn A. Morton Prize in Poetry published by Sarabande. In 2001, he received a poetry fellowship from the NEA. He is the author of The Darker Fall and Want and directs The Rainier Writing Workshop, the low-residency MFA program at Pacific Lutheran University.
