About the Author
E. San Juan, Jr. was born in Manila in 1938. He received his A.B. (1958), magna cum laude, from the University of the Philippines and his A.M. (1962) and Ph.D. (1965) from Harvard University. H has taught at the University of the Philippines, Harvard, University of California, and Centro Escolar University and is Associate Professor of English at the University of Connecticut. His writings include over 100 scholarly essays in English and American literature and four volumes of poetry, fiction, literary criticism, and drama in English and in Pilipino. He is at present engaged in completing a three-volume commentary on Philippine history from the pre-Spanish time to the present.
