A very detailed diary kept by Col. Bunker, who commanded the 59th U.S. Coast Artillery Regt. on Corregidor, Philippine Islands. It begins on Jan. 3rd, 1942 and covers the defense of the island fortress until its fall in May, and his further experiences as a POW until his death in Formosa in May of 1943. About half of the book is about the combat on Corregidor, the other half on his POW life
