The writer is a daughter of Lt. Col. Saturnino Silva, the commanding officer of the 130th Infantry Regiment, who led 1,500 of his men in the Battle of Ising. Silva issued the special order that reached Gavina on May 1, 1945. The 272-page book, released in May, documented the May 3-10, 1945 battle that, according to Vallejo, hastened the liberation of Mindanao from the Japanese.

This revised edition is a compilation of the series of events that transpired in the Battle of ising in Davao City, a war incident that is hardly mentioned in the Philippine history books. It also includes the events, sources, and experiences of those who survived the war as found in libraries, archives, collections and as gathered by the author through first-hand interviews in the Philippines and abroad. Details of important military events in Mindanao are included to provide a meaningful background to the battle.
A Philippine import.
