This issue of Manila is a compendium of selected papers from the 21st Annual Manila Studies Conference held at the Far Eastern University in Sampaloc, Manila on July 18-19, 2012. It covers a wide range of topics that includes archaeology, history, religion, district studies, langauge, literature, health, and education. It has been the aim of the annual conferences to present recent studies on and trajectory to the various aspects of Manila's history and culture from the perspectives of various disciplines. This compilation, thus, presents works from different academicians and researchers through whose works we can have a better understanding and appreciation of Manila, the once colonial capital and now the hub of a busy bustling metropolis.
