This sequel to Isabel Escoda's earlier book of radio essays, "Letters from Hongkong - Viewing the Colony through Philippine Eyes," mainly consists of more talks aired over the weekly "Letter from Hongkong" radio program. Also included are her letters from the USA and Canada and short stories. The show's lone Filipino broadcaster, Escoda proposes that Jimmy Carter be made Minister for Hongkong after 1997, gives her zany version of local politics, airs a petition to Governor Chris Patten, describes an Englishwoman's rescue of a jailed Filipina prostitute, obtains a Hongkong car's right of abode, and discusses other topics. She comments on life for the territory's largest foreign community, showing how thousand of Filipino women cope with Hongkong's tough environment as the time for China's take-over approaches.
