About the Author
Ester Vallado DaRoy was born in Fort Mills on the island of Corregidor, then an American colony and a military fort. Her father served in the American military forces, and she grew up in a Filipino-American community, where she had her elementary and high school schooling. She studied at the University of the Philippines (Padre Faura campus) and the Philippine Women's University for her undergraduate work, and took graduate courses at the Ateneo University in Quezon City. She started as a teacher in 1963, then worked at the Press and Publications Office of PWU until 1973. She is presently teaching at the De La Salle University.
