"The book talks of its humble beginnings in 1928, and of the American men and women missionaries who helped found the congregation during an era when Filipinos were so discriminated against that even houses of worship would not admit them. In 1933, the Filipino Christian Church became a formal church under the auspices of the disciples of Christ denomination. In 1998, the city of Los Angeles declared the site of a historic cultural monument for its vital role in the advancement of the Filipino American community in the region and its cultural contributions to the city.

The book also features complete biographies of Royal Morales by his widow, Anne Icamen Morales; of helen Summers Brown by her son George; of Dan Inosato, by his niece, Dr. Celeste Howe; and of Dr. Teodoro Ines, by his son Ted and his nephew, Marcel Suetos. Other contributors to the book include the former Jeannie Abella, co-founder of SIPA, and retored Phillipine Ambassador Rodolfo Dumapias, co-founder of the Phillipine Junior Cultural Organization and the Filipino Summer Cultural School.
