The Escaped Prisoner is a novel of intrigue and suspense. Its author probes the heart of his characters, painting careful portraits of them with acute and astute perceptions. It condemns the use of third degree by the police, done in the mildest manner in the form of literary art, depicting the suffering of a simple man in union with art. With the employment of the dramatic method, the novel is packed with action. The protagonist narrator's .22 revolver and his shirt are stolen from his jeep, eventually turning up near a dead body. He is tortured by the police until he is forced to admit the crime he has not committed. He has attempted to escape, captured, underwent barbaric punishment, frustration and finally he has succeeded to escape. He meets the culprit, engages in a duel with him and has subdued him who declares as the real killer; his declaration is heard by the cop who has come to the scene; and the protagonist narrator has regained his freedom.
