About the Author
Gracianus R. Reyes was born on 19 February 1937 and received his elementary to undergraduate education at St. Louis College (now University) in Baguio City. He earned his M.S. in Sociology at the Asian Social Institute in Manila. Although The Uncommitted was his first published novel (New Day, 1986), it was by no means the only novel he had written up to that time. However, because of his high mobility (he has worked and lived in different parts of the archipelago) as a young bachelor, many of his manuscripts were lost. He found it easier to write new stories than to try to reconstruct what had gone up in smoke, as when his house in Tabuk, Kalinga-Apayao burned down. Reyes speaks six Philippine dialects and writes fluently in both English and Tagalog...A Philippine import. Limited copies available.
